Accessible uWaterloo.ca
Posted July 26th, 2010 by Annie Marie Belanger
The new site will be Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 - Level AA compliant. Both the Web Redesign and CMS projects have committed to the creation of an accessible uWaterloo.ca experience.
Level AA compliance means that uWaterloo.ca will be accessible to most users in most circumstances. It also means that we will be well positioned to meet upcoming Ontario legislation related to making information and communications accessible.
The redesign offered the University a great opportunity to plan for an accessible web site and avoid costly retrofitting efforts! The teams are seizing this opportunity to create an inclusive community in our web presence.

Based on new AODA legislation, it has been decided that the CMS Project will meet WCAG level A standards and aim for WCAG Level AA compliance where feasible.
