New uWaterloo Favicon

As you may have noticed,, there is a new "favicon" for the uWaterloo home page and various other sites. The favicon is the little icon that shows in your browser next to the URL in the address bar and next to the page title on the tabs.

All uWaterloo sites are encouraged to adopt the new favicon. To add it to your site, begin by downloading the icon file. Different browsers will handle this download link differently:

  • If you're prompted to open or save the file, choose save and save it to a convenient location on your computer.
  • If the icon opens and you see the little "W" in the centre, choose "File > Save as".
  • If the link opens a blank screen, come back to this page and right-click on the downloading link. Then choose "Save Target As".

Then upload it to your site's root directory (along with your index.html file).

In most browsers the new icon should appear after reloading the page. Users of Internet Explorer may need to clear the cache or take other measures to make the new icon appear.
