The new web.uwaterloo
Posted October 23rd, 2008 by Anonymous
Welcome to the new web.uwaterloo site! My name is Megan McDermott and I am the Manager, Web Communications at Communications and Public Affairs. I look after the home page, Events Calendar, Search tool, help support the Daily Bulletin and various other sites, and play a leadership role on web related committees.
I hope that this site will become an important resource for web developers at UW. On this site you will find:
- Information about how web development works at UW, including the overseeing committees.
- Summaries of Web Advisory meetings and information about what the sub-committees have been working on.
- Details about the future redesign as they become available (nope, nothing to say about that yet!).
- Tips and tricks for building websites within the UW template and beyond.
- Examples of interesting web ideas being used at UW including design, development, content, and interactivity.
- An opportunity to participate and ask questions in the comments.
- A chance to share what you are doing on your website(s) with other web developers at UW. Please let me know if you are interested in authoring a blog post.
- Documentation for some of the CPA web projects.
At this time this site is not intended to replace the web operations site, which includes downloads and documentation for the CLF template and other updates.
This is a new re-work of the CLF templates and I know there are still a few bugs, particularly with print stylesheets and some of the navigation in the documentation area. We are working on it as time permits! Please let me know if you see anything that doesn't look right.
Welcome to the site and I hope to see you participating in the comments! Please let us know what you want to see on this site.
Comments are Moderated
Currently, all comments on this site will be modreated. If you post a comment, it will not appear until it has been approved by a site administrator. This is being done to prevent spam and/or other unwanted content from appearing on the site. If things go well we may be able to remove this restriction in the future.
Disclaimer: this site is running on the Drupal platform. This does not mean that UW has any intention of adopting Drupal as its content management platform at this time or that UW endorses Drupal in any way. It was simply the best option of many for this particular site at the time it was developed.
The design of this site does not represent a change in the current UW CLF template. Some changes were made to accommodate the type of content on this site (a blog). If you have questions about what you can and cannot do with the CLF template please contact the Web Ops team.
